  1. AUCTION.EXE was created with a rather limited intent:  to make the annual
  2. gifts and crafts "Time and Talent" auction of the First Reformed Church of
  3. Cary, NC easier to handle.  It's not particularly elegant.  But it achieves
  4. its purpose fairly well...  most of the important functions needed for a
  5. church or charity auction are included, it isn't too difficult to master
  6. and when things go wrong the program usually recovers (or restarts, if
  7. necessary) gracefully and without losing much of its hard-gained data.

  9. There are three executable files, AUCTION.EXE, SETUPAUC.EXE and
  10. PRINTLOG.EXE.  The main program, AUCTION.EXE, will present the user with
  11. menu screens to handle basic auction functions.  It is small, fairly fast
  12. and reasonably robust.
  13.  
  14. SETUPAUC.EXE is invoked by AUCTION.EXE in the course of preparing for an
  15. upcoming auction.

  17. The PRINTLOG.EXE file has (so far) never been needed.  It will simply print
  18. out the transaction log recorded by the AUCTION program should that program
  19. become unusable for any reason.  It can also be invoked from AUCTION.EXE.
